Health Safety & Welfare

Health Safety & Welfare Structure

The FBU like other trade unions establishes and maintains specialist reps within the workplace to deal with Health, Safety and Welfare issues. The authority of these reps is derived from the Health, Safety and Welfare at Work Act 1974 and the Safety Reps, Safety Commitee Regulations 1977.

These representatives work within a seperate structure that is integrated into the wider FBU organisation at every level. Each Brigade Committee appoints bi-annually the Brigade Health & Safety Rep. Each branch can appoint a Health & Safety Rep, and where possible each watch is encouraged to have a rep.
